Call for Recommendations: NLAC Council Members
The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC) is seeking recommendations of people to be considered for service on Council. Members of the arts community and the general public may submit recommendations.
The NLAC is governed by a volunteer board of 13, appointed by government, reflecting regional representation of the province. This includes 10 professional artists who provide sectoral representation of the arts community; one community representative; one business representative; and one representative of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation (non-voting). Members of Council serve a three-year term.
The NLAC receives an annual grant from the Province to support a variety of granting programs, program delivery, office administration, and communications. It also seeks support from the public and private sector. It supports the following artistic disciplines: dance, film, multidiscipline, music, theatre, visual art, and writing.
The NLAC is currently seeking three new members:
- One professional visual arts representative
- One representative of the general community with an interest in the arts
- One representative of the business community with an interest in the arts
NOTE: One of these individuals must be a resident of Labrador
The deadline for recommendations is February 15, 2010
